Benefits of coconut oil (Part 2)

This article is a continuation of the article “benefits of coconut oil” part 1.In the first part, we looked at how coconut oil helps you in terms of weight loss, skin care, hair care and your immune system. In this article, we are going to look at the other health benefits of coconut oil. Of course the benefits of coconut oil are plenty we could create a 101 list. I will of course try to cover all the major benefits of coconut oil.
 1.Coconut oil and Heart Diseases
There has always been a misconception among people that coconut oil might not be the best for your heart, since it contains a large amount of saturated fats. This was especially true after a study in 2006 indicated that saturated fats contributed to the development of heart diseases. But was this really the case? Well, there was a lot of debate about this study but it was later discovered that there was misinterpretation during reporting of the findings of the study. Actually, the lauric acid contained in coconut oil helps prevent heart problems including high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Unlike saturated fats contained in other vegetables, the saturated fats in coconut oil do not increase the levels of LDL but rather reduce injuries in arteries hence helping prevent atherosclerosis.

   2. Coconut oil and digestion
Is coconut oil beneficial to your digestion system? Most people consume coconut oil through cooking oils. Coconut oil really improves the digestive system thus helping preventing various stomach and digestion related completions such as irritable bowel syndrome. The saturated fats present in coconut oil are also known to be anti-microbial hence help in dealing with bacteria and fungi. Well, the next time you go shopping for cooking oils check out coconut oil.
 
   3. Coconut oil as a healer
Researchers have proven that when applied on infections, coconut oil forms a chemical layer that protects the infected area. The layer prevents dust, bacteria and viruses from causing farther damage on the infected area. Coconut oil also speeds up the healing process on bruises.
Coconut oil has also been used to help prevent various viral diseases such as flu, measles, herpes, hepatitis, etc. Other than viral diseases, coconut oil  also helps prevent bacteria caused infections such as ulcers and throat infections. All these are attributed to the antiviral and antibacterial properties of coconut oil.

   4. Coconut oil as a stress reliever
Coconut oil has a soothing and gentle effect on your skin. Using it as massage oil is one sure way to help in removing stress and mental fatigue. In addition, users claim that coconut oil to be the best massage oil around since it has multiple benefits to your skin. These benefits include skin moisturization, prevention against infections, and prevention against wrinkling, skin sagging and age spots. It also prevents against harmful Ultraviolet rays.
  
  5 .Coconut oil and diabetes
Another benefit of coconut oil is its ability to improve the body’s use of blood glucose and the secretion and absorption of insulin. We know that insufficient insulin in the blood increases the risk of diabetes. By regulating the level of insulin in the body, coconut oil is in fact shielding you from diabetes.

Did I tell you the benefits of coconut oil are plenty? Of course there are also other great benefits of using coconut oil such as prevention of liver conditions, kidney diseases and the strengthening of teeth and bones.
